Greenbrier East High School is a school in Fairlea, West Virginia that serves grades 9 through 12 and is a part of Greenbrier County Schools. Greenbrier East High School is located on Spartan Lane, just off US 219 near Lewisburg, West Virginia. Although not within pleasant walking distance of Lewisburg, the school has a Lewisburg mailing address. The school has 1,220 students enrolled (as of 2012-2013), and over 75 faculty members. Among the various activities and organizations available at Greenbrier East, one of the most renowned is the Greenbrier East Spartan Marching Band, directed by Jim Allder. Holding slightly less prestige is Greenbrier East's Theater Department who in the past 4 years as won West Virginia Theater Conference 3 times, placing 1st each time, except that one time it didn't, all under the direction of Sam Yates.The reigning principal is Jeff Bryant. Currently Jimmy Knapp has the best mustache of all the pictures on the wall of fame in the hallway. Jim Justice buys everything there: turf field, basketball court, and other items.
